Reported. Based on reported deaths. HRANA's running total through July 17, 2026, then each death acknowledged by Iranian sources. Methodology last updated .
Iranian military personnel killed in the U.S. war with Iran since February 28, 2026, from HRANA's running total and later official acknowledgements.
This represents Iranian military deaths due to the War in Iran.
This is an experimental counter.
The United States and Israel launched a massive attack on Iran on February 28, 2026. A ceasefire was announced on April 8, 2026; a new wave of U.S. attacks began on July 8, 2026 and has continued since. This counter tracks deaths of Iranian military personnel attributable to that war.
Through July 17, 2026: HRANA. The baseline is the cumulative military count published by the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA), an arm of Human Rights Activists in Iran (HRA), a non-profit founded in 2010 by Iranian exiles in the United States. HRANA has a reputation for careful data gathering, and since its members have been critical of the Iranian government for over 20 years, they seem unlikely to intentionally produce biased numbers. HRANA published cumulative totals through April 7, 2026 (1,221 military) and one report on the new wave covering July 8–17 (48 killed, of whom 20 were identified as civilians; the remaining 28 are counted here), then stopped aggregate reporting. HRANA's 714 unclassified deaths are not counted.
From July 18, 2026: acknowledged deaths. No independent organization counts Iranian military dead since the ceasefire. This counter adds only deaths that Iranian state media, the IRGC, or wire services explicitly report as military personnel, one entry per acknowledgement, each reviewed by hand before it is added. Iran does not systematically announce military losses, so this is a significant undercount. Estimates by Israeli and U.S. officials and by other monitors run far higher and are not used here.
Neither source can distinguish deaths caused by Israel from deaths caused by the United States. These are combined totals.
